NEWSLETTER - SEPTEMBER 2023

Hello,

We hope you had a good summer and managed to avoid the wet weather (more on that in a minute!).

We're getting ready for probably the busiest period we've ever had at White Cobra with no less than three stage productions currently in rehearsals, and preliminary work on a new series for our  YouTube channel also due to get underway before Christmas.

Around the World in 80 Days

First, a huge thanks to everyone who was either part of, or who supported our summer show Around the World in 80 Days.

The first performances were under sunny skies, but as the run of the show continued the weather got worse and we had to perform our "outside" show "inside" on a number of occasions. Huge credit to Director Jude WIlton and the cast for last minute adaptations and restructures, and - let's be honest! - winging it! so that whatever the elements threw at the show, we didn't miss any performances.

The weather was kind to us for this performance in Pitsford.

All were brilliant performances which the audiences loved, culminating at Benthall Hall with the show being performed in a church!

Lilies on the Land

So onwards, and the first of our Autumn 2023 shows in well into rehearsals. Lilies of the Land is directed by Liz Clarke, and features Victoria Miles, Mo Shapiro, Olivia Hulley and Sam Harrison in a moving and uplifting story of the Second World War Land Army.

The tour starts in early November travelling to Bath, Devizes and Chester and Northampton.

Here, Liz explains why the play means so much to her.

Book Now!

We're all really excited to be performing the show at Northampton's Royal Theatre, on 16/17/18 November. For White Cobra to get the chance to perform in such a beautiful and historic theatre is a massive honour. Tickets are now available through the Royal and Derngate Box Office.

Tickets are also now on sale for most of the other venues:

It's a Wonderful Life - a live radio play

White Cobra is back at The Royal Theatre in Northampton with a Christmas Show this year (Oh yes we are!) and we're delighted that Matt Fell has agreed to re-stage his brilliant production of It's a Wonderful Life which was initially staged by Masque Theatre. Some of the cast from that show are returning for this new production, alongside a few newbies. It tells the same story as the 1946 film, which starred James Stewart as George Bailey, but told in an original way for the theatre.

We're doing four performance, including a Saturday matinee at The Royal Theatre, and tickets can now be booked by visiting this page.

The Father

Finally, a sneak preview of our first play for 2024. Martin Borley-Cox is directing The Father, which was a recently highly acclaimed film starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. And here's a short teaser... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmRqGm-lzDs
